What is a healthy mind?

Picture taken in July 2017, with a genuine laughter (thanks to my adorable bestfriends)

This is just something random that has been lingering in my mind for awhile. The struggle to stay positive, to be happy and have a healthy mind even when life knocks you down. I guess because I came to realize that this is a daily struggle for not only myself but many people as well.
What really is a healthy mind?
There was a period of time when my mind was not healthy at all. In short, I was not happy. Smiling and laughing took a lot of effort, it all felt fake. For a few years, everyday felt like a struggle to even wake up every morning. It was like I was physically there, but I’m not really there. It took me sometime to get out of that ‘comfort zone’ that I was in. It was a comfort zone to me at that time because I choose to stay in that zone. I keep going back to it, no matter what.
Some of you may or may not have these kind of thoughts before. What am I living for? Is there a reason to live, what IS my reason to live? No one really cares. Why am I not smart enough, or good enough? I’m not capable of doing this and that. I’m below average, or just average. I won’t be able to cope or handle with this and that.
A healthy mind is when you don’t have all these thoughts.
I think we all tend to look down on ourselves at times and compare ourselves with others. We view ourselves as something so small and we lack confidence in ourselves. I believe that everyone has those moments. Sometimes it just comes unexpectedly, especially when something bad happens that impacts you greatly. Maybe it’s the way you were brought up, the environment that you were in that sometimes cause you to feel or think these thoughts. Or it could be because of some bad events that happened before.
One thing’s for sure though, is that everyone has their own purpose in life, and it’s all in your hands. YOU get to choose what you want to live for. YOU have the choice to create your own path in life. Everybody has their own choice on how you want to live your life. Choose the ones that makes you happy, the ones that helps you to become a better person and cause a positive impact in your life.
On a side note, having positive people by your side also influences your life choices and decisions. If you surround yourself with people that help lift you up, you will one day manage to lift yourself up as well.
I used to think that I can’t control what I’m feeling. That it just comes and goes. To an extent, this is true. But you can definitely choose how do you respond to these feelings or thoughts. When it comes, you can choose to either respond negatively… or seek for help from others. It is all about mindset and your willingness to change or control it.
There will be good and bad times in life, but one day eventually you will learn to see the positive sides of even the bad ones. You will be able to believe in yourself and start seeing yourself as a valuable person. You are definitely not alone in this world. I can guarantee you have AT LEAST 1 person (definitely more than 1 though) that cares about you. Sure there will be times when you fall down, so get yo ass back up just like the saying ‘Fall 7 times, get up 8’.
Your life is like a book. There are a few chapters, some chapters are bad and good. One chapter does not define the whole book.
Be the author of your own book.

21st Birthday @ The Forum KL, Desa Sri Hartamas

So we had 4 people born in October (parents planned since January, if you get the drift), we usually celebrate all of their birthdays at one go because there’s just too many birthdays in one month! We had our dinner at The Forum which is located in The Signature Serviced Suites & Studios, Desa Sri Hartamas.

We bought the ‘Happy Birthday’ balloons from J&D Store in Summit USJ. They have a few other party stuff along with a bunch of toys so you can check them out, reasonable price as well.

edited6(They look like they are doing an opening ceremony right? HAHAHA)

As for the cake, we got it from PetiteSyireen CustomCakes (based in USJ4 Subang Jaya). This is our second time ordering from her as we loved her chocolate cake, the sweetness of the chocolate is just right.. not too sweet or too bland.
I didn’t take many pictures of the interior or food.. these are some of the food that we ordered. The Mexican burger (RM29) as well as the Oven Roasted Chicken (RM30) were the ones that I didn’t took a picture of.

edited4The Forum Burger RM40
The burger consists of beef patty, mayonnaise and cheddar cheese, served with fried onion rings and salad at the side. This was the burger that I ordered, it tasted a little bit dry to me though but the onion rings were good.

edited2Ayam Masak Lemak RM26
Served with steamed rice and prawn crackers. My friend Siang Siang ordered this and mentioned that it was okay, however she wouldn’t spend that much on something like this again as you can just get a cheaper version which taste just as same.

edited3Pesto Salmon Spaghetti RM31
Three of my friends ordered this, two of them however mentioned that it tasted a little bland. It’s basically spaghetti with pesto sauce served with salmon.

edited5Salmon Steak RM39
You should not order this if you are a big eater. There’s nothing much aside from the salmon itself as well as some corn, green lentils, couscous and salad at the side.
Overall, I would say The Forum KL is a place with great atmosphere, high ceilings and windows. Good for a date perhaps? Or a large group of friends. They do catering as well like a buffet or any events. Since we came at night, we didn’t get to see how it would look like daytime. I think the place would look nicer during the day compared to night as natural sunlight will appear through the windows and thus, nicer pictures too (my phone & camera can’t handle the bad lighting thus bad quality pictures were taken 😛 hehehe)
After dinner, some of us ended up at Murni USJ to play some monopoly deal (because somebody was so eager to play HAHAH jokes love you) and have supper since some of us were still hungry.

Why I Started A Healthy Lifestyle

Honestly, I’ve been wanting to join a gym and start living a healthy active lifestyle since 2014 but never gotten a chance to until 2016. The reason? I am VERY shy to enter a gym with full of guys and surrounded by a bunch of people (tbh I still am shy sometimes). I felt like I could get judged all the time.. Once again, fear was what stopped me from doing things that I want to do. In terms of food wise, naturally the motivation isn’t there if there isn’t something that helps you along with it.
In my high school days I did do some workouts at home, just some arms and abs workout aside from jogging. I was skinny. Back then it was all baby gains (which I was somehow happy about LOL)… BUT from Form 3 onwards I pretty much ate McDonalds almost every week after tuition (and then I was no longer skinny but skinny FAT). Holy crap you should see my tummy. Everyday bloated as hell I looked like I had a beer belly (well ok it wasnt THAT bad but in my eyes it was). I wanted to loose fat.. well no surprise there since everybody that starts off usually just wanna lose weight and fats.
FAST FORWARD TO 2016 when I FINALLY decided to join a gym thanks to my boyfie (actually all the guys I’ve dated works out like what’s with me and dating guys that are into building muscles and shit?). WHERE DID I EVEN GET THE GUTS TO DO IT?!?!? I don’t even know. I really hate being in a place full of people (gosh, introvert problems halp) BUT I PULLED THROUGH! And good thing I did because from that day onwards, my lifestyle changed to basically cutting all the sodas, junk food and so on.. especially all the binge eating McDonalds. I still do eat and drink all those stuff here and there but compared to last time, it’s just not as often as before. Definitely there was a HUGE change to my body.. and I was in love with the progress.
IMG_20171003_012638IMG_20171003_011730IMG_20171003_224635
The moment I saw my waist from 26inches to 24inches.. *jumps up and down* And when my stomach fat decreased… yup. Although back then when I first started going to the gym and eating healthy it felt like it was just a phase… but now it became more of a lifestyle. You automatically just start to make healthier choices (but of course with some cheats here and there because hello? food is love? food is life?) and your body automatically needs the gym. Not to mention when you’re just so done with life so you release all the bottled up feelings when working out 🙂
….and that’s basically why and how I started.
Going to the gym when there’s a shitload of people (especially guys) still feels very intimidating to me until now, but I try to push that aside and just work out… in a corner. I LIKE MY CORNERS OKAY! AWAYYYY from everyone.. hehehe 😀
